Art Works of Ivy Bottini
Context: Ivy studied at Pratt Institute from 1944 to 1947, where
she obtained a certificate in advertising design and illustration.
After graduation she worked in several art agencies in NYC and then
completed a 16 year career at Newsday where she was illustrator
and art director. She left Newsday when she moved to California
in 1971.
Ivy was married to Edward Bottini in 1952. Laura, their first daughter
was born January 1953. They bought a Levittown house, on Long Island
in New York State, in 1955. Lisa, their second daughter was bom
June 1956. Ivy and her then-husband owned and operated three art
galleries on Long Island, New York between 1960 and 1965. The galleries
concentrated on presenting new artists' work. Ivy chose to not exhibit
her own art in their galleries. She did, however, exhibit in other
galleries on Long Island. |
